Project Manager

XS Soil Solutions Inc. specializes in strategizing practical approaches and cutting-edge applications of the Excess Soil Regulations (O.Reg 406/19), which has come into full effect as of January 1st, 2023. As the industry prepares to interpret and implement the new Regulations, our company is already a step ahead of the curve, thanks to our experience and detailed knowledge and understanding of O.Reg 406/19. We are seeking to grow our team by hiring a qualified, experienced and driven individual, in order to take our business to the next level.


We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team! You will be responsible for the execution and delivery of Plans and Reports for our clients, under excess soil management (Ontario Regulation 406/19).

Responsibilities:


  • Mentor junior staff in the understanding of O.Reg. 153/04 and O. Reg 406/19 requirements
  • Direct and lead the work of technical staff for the completion of, the following tasks (common list of reports, but not limited to):
  • Assessment of Past Uses (APU)
  • Sampling & Analysis Plans (SAP)
  • Soil Characterization Reports (SCR)
  • Excess Soil Destination Assessment Reports
  • Excess Soil Management Plan
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to assess a receiving site and develop excess soil quality standards. Develop Fill Management Plans, when necessary.
  • The understanding of the Beneficial Reuse Assessment Tool (BRAT) is required. Having completed a BRAT is considered a benefit.
  • Having successfully completed the process of a Records of Site Condition is a benefit.
  • Having successfully completed the process of obtaining an Environmental Compliance Approval is a benefit, preferably for contaminated soil/soil transfer is a strong benefit.
  • Implement, track and report on monthly soil hauling records
  • Review regular APU, SAP and SCR reports for approval into the number of receiving sites managed by XS Soil.
  • Ensure deadlines and cost targets are met
  • Efficient and effective report writing will be a required. Strong possibility of developing report templates.
  • Assist in developing SOPs
  • Serve as a liaison between Source Sites and Receiving Sites for excess soil movement and management.
  • Assist with providing cost estimates, budgetary reviews and strategic project pursuit
  • May be required to attend site visits and conduct soil samples, if field staff are unavailable


​Qualifications:


  • The successful candidate must have a P.Eng. or P.Geo. license (or the like) with a QP designation, as defined under O.Reg 153/04
  • 12+ years of relevant experience conducting Phase I/II/III ESAs, Project Management and/or excess soil management
  • Strong technical understanding of O.Reg. 153/04 and 406/19
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Strong analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Strong leadership qualities
